Becoming a Better Salesperson – Tips from Donald Trump

You don’t have to be a billionaire to think like one. Donald Trump, author of many books, real estate mogul and creator of NBC’s The Apprentice, has great insights on success as a salesperson and running a business. This week we’ll present some of his top tips.

Go big or go home    Your customers and prospects are important so treat them that way. We’re not just talking about spending big bucks, though that could never hurt. It’s about giving them your time, your attention, and your focus. Create an experience they won’t forget, not just another meeting.

Walking the walk     Regardless of what’s in your bank account and how many sales you’ve made, you should look like you’re at the top of your game. Trump makes it a policy to be the best-dressed in the room. Your goal here is to remind them they’re dealing with a winner.

 Talking the talk Sure, Trump may be a little over the top, but his bravado is one of the most memorable things about him. This tip may take some getting used to or some practice, especially if you’re used to being a wallflower. Find ways to bring up your strengths, your accomplishments, and your relevant history. Show off your ideas and your insights.
